I Run-Draw These Streets

Sometimes as a mature adult with responsibilities and goals you have to wake up at 5:30 in the morning, put on your running shoes and go out and run 8 miles... in the shape of a dick. So that's what RunKeeper and I did this morning on the streets of Chicago. I feel so accomplished: Thank you to the original dick-runner for the inspiration. My crude run-drawing skills are nothing to yours Claire.

Telluride Blues and Brews (and trail running)

This past weekend Brynn and I headed to Colorado for the third year in a row to hit up the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival . If you haven't heard of it, it's a pretty amazing festival - mainly because the town of Telluride itself is pretty amazing - but also because it's a relatively small music festival that manages to get relatively big bands. Last year we saw Flaming Lips, Willie Nelson and Fitz and the Tantrums. The year before that it was George Thorogood and BB King. This year wasn't a stellar lineup (to me) so we just bought one day tickets for Saturday instead of buying the whole 3-day pass like we've done before. The other part of the festival's title (the brews, that is) is also a big reason we bought Saturday tickets: on Saturday every year there's a three hour window where around 50 microbreweries give out samples of their beers. When you walk in you get a little tasting glass... and then you just walk around tasting as many beers as possib...

I just ran the Fastest Mile EVER (for real)

Seriously, check it - RunKeeper doesn't lie: ...but it does get a really bad GPS signal around my apartment... so the distance might be just a little bit off. (I mean, to be totally honest, I was probably just doing a 3:30 mile). If you're curious, here's what my superhuman route looked like at the end: As you can see, sometimes I get a little erratic when I'm trying to set a world record so I just start totally ignoring streets and running right through buildings (hardcore I know, but you have to be if you want to be a champion right?). Also, I'm a little OCD so I always have to tag the John Hancock Center at some point during a run. Regardless of the app's accuracy, someone needs to contact Hicham El Guerrouj and let him know that I'm no longer that impressed with his 3:43 mile on a flat, marked course - I mean I was doing this with stoplights and building security guards and everything. Anyway... on the boring serious side of this, I've had the Ru...
